Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist (ST) is an integral component of the surgery team providing expertise in the role of the scrub nurse. The ST works closely with the Registered Nurse in planning for and providing care to the operative patient and in meeting the needs of the surgeon. Provides appropriate patient care according to the age of the patient specifically: neonatal pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric. Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality as per Administrative Policy.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- 2 years minimum experience, current graduate student of an accredited program or near completion of such a program
- High School/GED or 2 years equivalent work experience.
- BLS (AHA required)
- Surgical Techs that began working as Surgical Techs after 1997 must be a graduate of an Surgical Technology program or completed a Surgical Tech Certification Program.
- Hires after 09/09/2018 require a National Surgical Tech Certification or a minimum of 5 years experience in the related field.
- Surgical Tech graduate or certified
Skills:
Can scrub set up and maintain a sterile field and preform the duties of a Surgical Technologist for all surgery specialities. Must have the ability to read write and speak English.
1997 after must be a graduate of an Surgical Technology program or completed a Surgical Tech Certification Program.
Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
